The Collel provides all-day studies from 9:00 to 13:15 and after lunch from 15:30 to 19:00 for young married Russian-speaking men.
Some collel students, such as Zeev Urman, David Dvir, Shmuel Rozman, Eliahu Malkin began their studies in the Toldos Yeshurun evening programs, and now they themselves have chosen to study Torah all day. There are currently about 30 students in the collel. The studies take place in Beit Midrash Zvehil in the Beit Israel neighborhood in Jerusalem (26 Rappaport Street). The head of the collel is the greatest Russian-speaking halachic authority Rabbi Ben Tzion Zilber.
In the collel, different masechtos of the Babylonian Talmud are studied. Each maseches generally takes half a year. The basic form of studying is chavrusos, i.e. studying pairs, but there are also some regular classes lasting between 30 to 45 minutes each, on Talmud, Halacha, and Musar. The teachers include Rabbi Avraham Cooperman, Rabbi Nochum Ofman, and others. A small grant and also a lunch are stipulated for students. Nisan, Av and Tishrei are months of vacation. Admission to the collel occurs on a competitive basis. If you would like to receive more detailed information, please call Avraham Cohen at 054-5400801.
